Exploring film
The film of the 1990’s was a very lively production time. The film of the time was making big changes and therefore improving. While during the early 1990’s VCR were still very popular, the CD player was about to become the new hit. According to Tim Dirks “In 1990, Kodak introduced the Photo CD player. And in 1992, the Second Edition of the 20-volume Oxford English Dictionary, was also made available on CD-ROM. By 1992, broadcast TV was beginning to lose large numbers of viewers to cable-only channels” (n.d., p.1). While the early 1990s was early development of CD’s, the industry quickly progressed, and it was ready to be released in stores, in 1996. Theses CD’s changed film in a very new way. They provided a more clear, and better way to watch movies from home, they were also more durable. The invention of the CD was something that dramatically changed the film and with that the culture in the 1990s. The way films were viewed changed quite a bit, but it was also a great time for the films themselves. Many films that were made in this period are still very popular now, and even have started off series of movies happening today. One example of a very popular film/tv show of the time was Boy Meets World. Boy Meets World was a show that taught kids of the 90’s great life lessons. The lessons that were taught, were lessons that were often brought up in kids life. They talked about family issues, high school issues, sex, drugs, and relationships. This show was so popular that in the year 2014, a spin off series was created. Using the former characters to bring back old fans. Boy Meets World was a show that was a big part of culture in the 1990’s and affected it.
