Many big events happened in the 1990’s. One of the biggest events that changed America forever was the shooting at Columbine high school. The shooting took place in Colorado. Two teenage boys named Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. They killed 13 people and and wounded more than 20 other, then they committed suicide. The case was investigated thoroughly to try and figure out what the motive was for the crime. While many things were thought to be possibilities, nothing was ever proven. One possibility was thought to be be bullying, but it was never considered fact. (History.com, n.d., p.1). This shooting changed the path that society was going on greatly. It was an event that brought up many protest of gun control. After this event occurred, gun control and bullying awareness became very big in the culture.
Oklahoma
Another major event that occurred was the tornado tornado that happened in Oklahoma in 1999. This Tornado was very violent and cause much more damage than before. The tornado killed 46 NSSL states “As the skies cleared, the states counted 46 dead and 800 injured, more than 8000 homes damaged or destroyed, and total property damage of nearly $1.5 billion” (n.d., p.1). people. It left many people shocked. This shaped culture quite a bit because it helped to bring more awareness to natural disasters.
